On Saturday the JDC 's Foundation Tour would start proceedings with two open events for young players designed to allow youngsters to experience competition and aim for the 4 tour cards available for the Advanced Tour in 2021. The spoils were taken by dutch ace PIM van Bijnen and JDC Virtual Junior World Champion Cayden Smith OF England.
Both players competed in both finals on the day and shared a win between them.
Smith in the first event sealed his win with a 5-3 score line and a 71.7 ave and van Bijnen with a similar 5-3 win and an 80.8 ave in the second final.
Sunday would see the start of the Advanced Tour with 32 of the best junior players battling it out for an impressive £10,000 prize fund and what a start to this event.
Former multiple tour winner Leighton Bennett ran out the winner in event one with an impressive display throughout the day dropping only 3 legs before the final. The final would be against JDC Super 16 finalist Luke Littler and was arguably the best match of the weekend if not in JDC tour history. Both players averaged over 92 with Bennett edging out littler 6-4 with a 96.1 ave in just over 14 minutes of play.
The second event would see Welshman Connor Hopkins win his first JDC event beating JDC tour regular and academy student Englands Henry Coates. The semi final was the highlight of the second event with Hopkins edging out Leighton Bennett in a deciding leg 5-4 after Bennett averaged 108 during the first 7 legs of the match. Hopkins dispatched Coates 6-1 in the final with supreme confidence.
The next JDC Tour weekend will be on July 3&4.
