Lexi-Jayne Rooksby celebrated her first ever JDC tournament win as she triumphed in the third event of the Girls Series to move joint top of the rankings.
The 15-year-old from Rushden in Northamptonshire – who also plays on the Foundation Tour – beat Maya Day 4-2 in the final in Coventry to go level on points with Paige Pauling.
In the final, there was break of throw after break of throw, with the first five legs going against the darts. The first hold came in the sixth when Rooksby clinched victory to cap a magnificent day.
She had earlier beaten Lilly Wheeler in a thrilling semi-final, battling back from 1-0 and 2-1 down to win the last two legs and qualify for her second final of the series.
In the quarter-final, Rooksby won 3-0 against Lola Wheeler, hitting a 140 and a 58 finish in the first leg, two ton-plus scores in the second and a 140 in the third as she enjoyed a comprehensive victory.
Day reached the final with a 3-1 semi-final win over Amy-Leigh Tolley, her highlight being a 140 in the fourth leg en route to closing out the win, having earlier overcome Lauren Stokoe 3-1.
The eight players reaching the quarters had to progress from the round-robin stage, where only Lilly Wheeler had a 100 per cent record as she beat Evie Strong 3-0, Rooksby 3-2, Day 3-1 and Taylor Field 3-1.
But when it came to the knockout stage, it was Rooksby who advanced – and she will be looking to go clear at the top of the rankings in Event 4 on Sunday.
