After a pre championship visit to the rock last week, JDC Chairman says that "Gibraltar is ready to go".
A meeting between the Sports Minister of Gibraltar, Steven Linares and the JDC to finalise the details ahead of the Junior World Darts Championship was " detailed and exciting" quoted Steve Brown. The JDC will not only be holding three days of competition but will also be doing work in the local community around acadamies and work in local schools, so as to leave a working relationship with Gibraltar.
Brown commented " it is our intention that wherever we go to put on premier events we also intergrate with the communities and organisations locally to really drive home the junior game and continue to work with them after the championships. We are blessed with some amazing facilities at Europa Point. We will have the arena to ourselves and it will be a great experience for the players and spectators.
All the planning is now done, and Gibraltar is ready to go!. We cannot thank the people of Gibraltar enough as this feels like a huge team effort on both sides. I am overwhelmed by the attendance of sixteen nations and 128 players who are attending, in just our third World Championship. I have great memories of playing in Gibraltar and I hope we can help create memories for the players that they will never forget".
The JDC will kick off proceedings on the eve of the tournaments with a welcome meeting for all nations at the venue Europa Point. The Venue itself is a multi million pound generation project of Europa Point with multiple facilities. The players will have their own private practice area, cool off rooms, chill out concorse with ocean views, and the spectators will have tiered seating area high up to view all the games in progress. The media are catered for in their own media zone which will allow them to get access to the players and help raise the profile of the junior game.
The competition will start on Tuesday 24th of September with the PDPA World Cup Team event followed by the DartConnect International Open on the Wednesday and concludes on Thursday the 26th with the Scott Farms International Junior World Darts Championship Finals.
Games will be streamed live from all events on the JDC Facebook page, Twitter and JDC Youtube Channel. The events can be followed live on the DartConnect system throughout the championships.
