The JDC is delighted to announce a new three-year deal to host the showpiece end-of-year world championship event in Gibraltar until at least 2027.
The Rock has become the home of the JDC’s week-long world championship extravaganza – which in 2024 featured the Winmau Junior Darts Open, Luke Littler Legacy Open, DartAsylum Junior World Cup of Darts and Holiday Inn Express Junior World Darts Finals.
The new deal will see the JDC return to Gibraltar in 2025, 2026 and 2027, with chairman Steve Brown describing The Rock as “the perfect fit” for the JDC’s big winter event, having first been held there in 2019.
He said: “Gibraltar has been fantastic for the JDC, and we’d like to think we’ve been good for Gibraltar too.
“We had a lot of interest from other locations but Gibraltar continues to feel like the perfect fit for the JDC. It’s a safe environment, the kids look forward to going down there, and it’s the darts highlight of the year for the majority of the players and their families.
“Gibraltar has become the Mecca of junior darts – and we’re really looking forward to continue putting on great events down there for at least the next three years.”
JDC chief executive officer Darren Barson added: “We are delighted to extend our relationship with Gibraltar for a further three years.
“The impact this event has on the whole darting spectrum internationally is huge and it needs a venue and community to embrace it. Gibraltar certainly does that and, to its credit, is now seen as the home of the biggest junior darts event on the planet.”
Gibraltar’s Minister for Sport, the Hon Leslie Bruzon, said: “This event is a key highlight in our calendar, attracting youth players from across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and even as far as Mongolia to compete in Gibraltar.
“The Canadian National Darts Federation recently stated in an international publication that, ‘the dream of all our junior players is to represent Canada at the JDC World Championships in Gibraltar’. Luke Littler is a testament to this dream, showcasing how Gibraltar has played a vital role in shaping his journey to the top.
“This tournament also provides invaluable exposure and a springboard for local talents like Nico Bado as they step onto the international stage. We are delighted to welcome Steve Brown back to Gibraltar and look forward to an exciting three years ahead.”
The 2025 event will celebrate new official partners in VisitGibraltar.GI & DJD Darts Jerseys.
The scheduled dates for the events are 24th to 28th November 2025. More details to follow via JuniorDarts.com
