The 2019 Greenzone Development tour played out its last event of the year at the West Midlands Darts Academy.
The final event of the JDC's Greenzone Development Tour was played out at on Saturday with a few more suprises during the day.
Firstly and fittingly the JDC's Greenzone Ambassador award winner Martyn Harper who is the Director of the West Midlands Darts Academy was presented with his award by JDC Director Jamie Cooper, (pictured) Hugely appropriate ahead of a Greenzone Tournament.
Players from the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Worcestershire played out a fun day of darts at Allens Sport & Social Club in Tipton, the home of the West Midlands Academy.
The tournament itself led to an amazing final between Connor Pickett and Lacey Hughes daughter of Academy Ambassador Jamie Hughes.
The final went to a decider and Connor ultimately taking the winning leg. Fun Challenges also played out at the venue inlcuded the Bullseye Challenge and the 9 darts Challenge that has been contested at every event in 2019 with both being won here by Jayden Harper.
During the day the JDC also managed to raise over £200 for the Jack Dowding foundation and research into Junior Diabeties. An extremely generous amount raised by all and an amazing contribution by Mark Pritchard of Darting Promotions Limited based in the West Midlands, who was present today with his own son who attends the academy sessions.
The emphasis of these events is to encourage developing players, but also to challenge those who are proficient in the game. Learning the etiquette and how to prepare for the game at a young age is also key. The concept developed by JDC Chairman Steve Brown is to create a level playing field and encourage all ablilities to compete.
Steve Brown commented,
" 2019 has been a fanstastic year for the promotion and inclusion of the Greenzone concept into our portfolio. Events being held around the country at academy bases and watching children of all abilities achieve, is exactly what I envisaged".
