REBECCA Allen won Event 5 of the JDC Girls Series to go top of the rankings – the day after she went top of the Junior Power League table.
Huge credit must also go to the beaten finalist, Macy Gibbons, the 15-year-old Coventry player who only started playing competitive darts this year.
Ireland’s Allen won the final 4-2, holding in the opening leg and breaking in the second, before Gibbons broke back to halve the deficit. Three more breaks followed, with Allen ultimately clinching the title on double 16.
She had earlier dropped only one leg in the knockout stage, with 3-0 wins over Chloe Creed and Lucy Shepherd, and a 3-1 win against Lexi-Jayne Rooksby.
She also dropped only one leg in her five round-robin matches, delivering her best performance in a 2-0 win over Harley Glover, in which she averaged 77.08 and sealed the deal with a 97 checkout having opened the leg with a 180.
Gibbons’ progress has been rapid. Playing in her home city, the relative newcomer to darts went through the round-robin stage without dropping a leg.
In the knockout stage, she beat Lacey Powell, Lilly Wheeler and Ruby Grey – all by a scoreline of 3-2 – to reach the final.
